A Rainbow of Curries from Around the World!
1.Pink curry veggie wrap. This features lettuce, tomato and cucumber but it gets its colouring from the key ingredient which is beetroot.
2.Thai yellow curry. A popular mild but tasty dish made with nutmeg, ginger and coconut milk.
3.Black curry. A Japanese speciality, it incorporates norikuro which is a black type of seaweed. The dish is served with often served with a poached egg.
4.Orange halibut curry. The halibut is chopped into cubes and cooked with onions, garlic, tomatoes, mustard, orange rind and anchovies to provide an extremely ‘fishy’ tasting curry.
5.Purple cabbage curry. The purple cabbage obviously provides the colour but the taste is achieved in conjunction with peas, onions and green chili.
6.Blue curry. Now this one is rare. It can only be found at Tea Room 2525 in Tokyo and its colour is achieved by blue food dye.
7.Red Thai curry. Another popular dish, usually made with chicken, the Thai red curry paste provides the colour as well as the spiciness.
8.Brown lentil curry. Masoor are brown lentils rarely used in Indian food but they can provide a tasty vegetarian dish.
9.White curry. A speciality in Singapore, this curry made with chicken or pork may be colourless but it is far from tasteless.
10.Thai green curry. To finish another popular dish with the colour provided by Thai green curry paste.
